This is Janitor from Rhythm Doctor, who accidentally fell asleep after taking a short break on a bench.

To the unsung heroes of the medical world, my heart goes out to you all.

Process

  1. Pencil Drawing

    2. I start with a pencil drawing. One day, my tablet will stop collecting dust in the drawer and actually be used.

  2. Line Art

    3. I trace the drawing using vector tools to make line art.

  3. Color Art

    4. I color in the line art. I took the colors straight from Janitor's in-game sprite, but it will be fine because I will do color adjustments later.

  4. Animation Time

    5. Janitor is asleep, so there is less movement than I usually make. I also removed the line art. he is tired

  5. Background

    6. I based the background on Middlesea Hospital. I am bad at perspective, so for the floor, I made a normal square grid and reshaped it with Toon Boom's Quadmap node.

  6. Shadows and Light

    7. I darkened the background to show that it is night, but I added a spotlight for Janitor, mimicking the spotlight that sometimes happens in Rhythm Doctor.

  7. Finalizing

    8. It looked a little bland, so I added two little stars and a shaking camera. Rest easy, Janitor.
